FROGS FOR SALE: Many inhabitants in the northern regions of Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana and Oshikoto — mostly youngsters — spent the better part of yesterday and today catching frogs either for their own consumption or to sell in the informal market, thereby earning some pocket money for themselves. A bundle of 4 to 5 frogs costs between N$15 and N$20, depending on the size of the frogs. Frogs are a traditional delicacy, but catching them lasts only a few days. With more rain, it becomes practically impossible to catch frogs as they easily disappear into the deep waters. Moongo (in the picture) was one of those who woke up early today to try his luck in the iishana in and around Oshakati. His first bundle of frogs went for N$15. Photo: Placido Hilukilwa.
