AN ATTEMPTED robbery in Windhoek’s Cimbebasia area on Saturday morning ended with one suspect being shot dead after a victim reportedly opened fire in self-defence, police have confirmed.

According to the weekend incident crime report, the incident occurred at around 07:00 on Saturday, in a bushy area of Cimbebasia. It is alleged that a couple who were walking their dogs were approached by three armed, unknown male suspects who attempted to rob them.

Police say one of the victims allegedly drew a firearm and fired shots, striking one of the suspects, who died at the scene. The remaining suspects fled.

The deceased suspect’s next of kin has been informed. No arrests have been made, and police investigations are continuing.
