BENJAMIN Hauwanga (BH), a well-known northern business tycoon who has been the target of a vicious character assassination campaign on social media, has struck again.
After opening a case of criminal defamation of character against Ongwediva resident Toivo Potgieter Simeon “Kapoti”, who was arrested last month, appeared in court in Windhoek and was granted bail of N$2 000, BH also opened a similar case against Swakopmund resident Wilhelmina Nghidulika. However, this case was withdrawn after Nghidulika travelled to the capital city and apologised profusely to BH in the presence of police officers.
BH struck again on Saturday morning when Paulus Hafeni Mokahwa, an Eenhana-based social media activist, was apprehended at his residence on similar charges.
Mokahwa announced his own arrest shortly after midnight.
BH has for quite some time been the target of a free-for-all social media campaign in which unrepeatable allegations were made against him before he finally decided to take the matter up with law enforcement.
The possibility of more people being arrested cannot be excluded.
