THE Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture has condemned an alleged incident of sexual assault involving boys at Wilhelm Nortier Primary School in Grootfontein, Otjozondjupa Region. Mbumba Haitengela, the Ministry’s Executive Director, promised his Ministry’s full cooperation with the investigation by law-enforcement authorities to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice.

The teacher in question, who has already been arrested and remains in police custody, has in the meantime tendered his resignation.

Haitengela reassured parents and the public that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness.

“Our officials are working closely with law-enforcement agencies to ensure that all affected learners receive the necessary protection and psychosocial support,” said Haitengela, stressing that the Ministry does not condone any form of abuse against learners, as such acts go against the moral and ethical values that we uphold as a Ministry and as a nation.

He appealed to the community to remain calm and to allow the investigation to take its proper course.
