THE male adult suspect who on Friday allegedly shot and killed village headman Sam Nepando and injured village headman and National Planning Commission Executive Director I-Ben Nashandi has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The shocking shooting incident occurred during a session of the Community Court, which was dealing with a dispute over land.

The victims — headmen of the Iikokola and Onelago villages respectively — were conducting the hearing when the enraged suspect allegedly pulled a pistol and started firing, wounding Nashandi and killing Nepando.

The suspect promptly fled the scene but was later traced and apprehended by the police.

Omukwaniilwa Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo and the Ondonga Traditional Authority have condemned the heinous act and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Nashandi is hospitalised and is said to be in a stable condition.
