EXCELLENT police work and the collaboration of law-abiding citizens have led to the arrest of a 25-year-old member of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) in connection with the murder of Salom Nikanor, a 41-year-old resident of the Okakwiyu informal settlement near Ondangwa, whose mutilated body was found floating in water near the Oluno Correctional Service facility on Monday morning.

The body was discovered by a passer-by at around 09:00 in what initially seemed to be a case of drowning.

However, when police officers retrieved the body, preliminary investigations revealed that it was mutilated, with the deceased person’s private parts missing.

The soldier was arrested within hours and was expected to appear in the Magistrate’s Court today.
