The Africa Continental Free Trade Agreements was established to create a Single Unified Market for goods and services to facilitate free movement of people and investment.
It aims to Boost Intra-African Trade by increasing trade between African countries by eliminating tariffs and non-tariff barriers, such as customs delays. It further aims to grow Industrialization and Development by encouraging economic growth, industrialization, and diversification across the continent.
It Promote's inclusive socio-economic development through gender equality, and structural transformation. The Agreement was entered into force on 30 May 2019. The operational phase launched on 7 July 2019. Trade under this agreement commenced on 1 January 2021.
