Market Access

Namibia is party to various trade agreements which preferential market access for Namibian products and it is the role of NTF  to ensure that local businesses benefit from these bilateral and multilateral agreements. 

  1. African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA): Signed along other African member states to create a single market for goods and services across Africa.
  2. Southern African Customs Union (SACU): Customs union signed with South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini and Botswana. The agreement aims to facilitate the duty-free movement of goods within the customs union and to impose common external tariffs for imports.
  3. SADC Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA): With the EU for enhanced trade.
  4. SACU-EFTA Free Trade Agreement (FTA): Signed with European countries such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
  5. SACU-Mercosur Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA): A preferential trade agreement signed with South American nations like Brazil and Argentina.
  6. African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA): Grants duty-free access to over 6,400 products to the U.S.

Other Agreements & Memberships:
  1. Bilateral Agreements: this includes trade pacts with countries like Zimbabwe, Angola, and others.
  2. UK-SACUM EPA: A preferential trade agreement with the UK, Mozambique, and other SADC EPA states.
