THE Managing Director (MD) of Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR), Brian Masule, has confirmed that the resort is in the process of purchasing tents to accommodate staff members of the Sesriem Lodge after a fire destroyed staff units at the lodge.

This follows a fire that broke out at the lodge earlier this week, resulting in the death of a two-year-old child and the destruction of 50 staff accommodation units.

Masule revealed that the affected units had accommodated a total of 70 staff members, and 23 children, who are currently temporarily housed at another lodge.

“They were booked into another NWR lodge, called Sossus Dune Lodge, while we make alternative arrangements for accommodation. We are in the process of purchasing tents for them to use while we construct a sustainable accommodation facility,” Masule added.

He confirmed that the cause of the fire is still unknown.
