ER Excellency Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, has been named African Political Leader of the Year by African Leadership Magazine (ALM), while Honourable Dr Esperance Luvindao, Minister of Health and Social Services, has been recognised as African Public Health Champion of the Year.
The Presidency expressed its warm congratulations and appreciation for the continental honours, adding that they underscore President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s steady and principled leadership, her lifelong commitment to public service, and her dedication to good governance, peace, and inclusive development both in Namibia and across Africa.
In a statement, the Presidency extended sincere gratitude to the African Leadership Organisation for recognising the President’s efforts to strengthen democratic values, enhance public institutions, foster regional cooperation, and advance Africa’s shared development agenda.
The recognition of Minister Luvindao highlights Namibia’s growing leadership in public health. ALM praised her steadfast commitment to expanding healthcare access, strengthening public health systems, and safeguarding the well-being of millions across the continent, noting her transformative impact on shaping a healthier and more resilient Africa.
The Presidency also congratulated all other African leaders recognised in ALM’s 15th Persons of the Year 2025 awards, while expressing heartfelt thanks to Namibians and friends of Namibia who participated in the public voting process.
“These accolades reflect the strength, dynamism, and promise of Africa,” the statement read, “and reaffirm Namibia’s growing leadership in both political governance and public health.”
