SOME employees of Omhalanga Mills, a subsidiary company of Profile Investments owned by businessman Vaino Nghipondoka, have aired their disdain, stating that they have not been paid their salaries for three months.

In a letter seen by Informanté dated 2 December 2025, Omhalanga Mills notified employees that there would be a delay in payment for their September, October and November 2025 salaries, adding that the delay was due to circumstances beyond the company’s control.

“We are working diligently to resolve the matter, and salaries are expected to be paid within the next two to three weeks,” the letter said.

One worker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, wrote: “We, the employees of Vaino ‘Baby Face’ Nghipondoka, are deeply distressed as we have not received our salaries for the past three months. Despite our ongoing financial struggles and responsibilities to support our families. We appeal to the public and authorities to help us seek justice and ensure that we receive the wages owed to us. Our bills are piling up, and we urgently need assistance to hold our employer accountable.”

Another employee added that whenever they raised questions about the lack of payment, they were told that the final decision to disburse payments was in Nghipondoka’s hands.

Reached for comment, Nghipondoka said that Omhalanga Mills is a subsidiary business of his, and added that the current situation was caused by a downturn in the market.

“That side is a problem because of the bumper harvest of last year. When the country gets good rain, the milling businesses suffer. That affects our operations, but we are helping them. We will make sure that they get their things on time now for December,” Nghipondoka said.

The Acting CEO of Omhalanga Mills, Henock Natangwe Shilyomhunu, echoed Nghipondoka’s sentiments and added that the bumper harvests experienced by local farmers in the area have resulted in low sales. He, however, added that they have stock and that there is a need to improve the sales strategy, but assured workers they would be paid in December.
