THE Namibian Police have clarified the failed robbery of a minimarket at Oshakati on Friday evening, revealing that the person who died was not shot as reported earlier, but was run over by a vehicle while fleeing the scene.
According to the police, of the five suspects, one was fatally hit by a vehicle. Another was arrested, and three are still on the run.
It is alleged that the five armed suspects approached the shop at around 20:00 with the intention to rob it. They fired shots and fled the scene after realising that the door was locked. One of the suspects was hit by an oncoming vehicle while running across the road. He died on the spot.
A 41-year-old male suspect has been arrested, but three others are still on the run.
