A TOTAL of 7,469 inhabitants of the Kavango West Region are on antiretroviral therapy (ART), representing 96.2% of those who tested HIV positive in the region, said Health and Social Services Regional Director Fransiska Hamutenya recently.
Speaking at a belated World AIDS Day commemoration in Mpora village, Ncamagoro constituency, she said that viral load suppression in the region currently stands at 97%, while 394 HIV-negative people were receiving pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), an HIV prevention medication.
According to her, the Regional Directorate is aiming to reach 100% from the current 96.2% of people living with HIV who are on ART.
