DERICK Brockerhoff, a convicted serial poacher and livestock thief who has more than 11 cases pending against him in various courts across Namibia, was again apprehended by the Namibian police.

This time, Brockerhoff was caught near Kalkrand, alongside two other suspects identified as Immanuel Goseb (“Naughty Boy”) and Romeo Romens Gereseb, for contravening Section 18 of the Riotous Assemblies Act, Act 17 of 1956, for conspiracy to commit the offense of hunting specially protected game (rhinoceros), operating a motor vehicle without displaying a license disc applicable to that vehicle, as well as contravening Sections 2 and 33 of the Arms and Ammunition Act, Act 7 of 1996.

It is alleged that on 10 December 2025, on the B1 road near Kalkrand at 19:30, police officers put up a temporary roadblock to stop and search vehicles.

The vehicle the accused were travelling in reportedly approached the roadblock, noticed the police officers, pulled off, and threw out a rifle.

Police subsequently recovered one hunting rifle, 13 rounds of ammunition, and hunting paraphernalia.

The trio appeared before the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on 12 December 2025, and their matter was remanded to 16 February 2026 for further investigations.

In April 2024, Brockerhoff was apprehended in the mountains near Eros, Windhoek, and was found with two carcasses of wild game meat—a kudu and an oryx—without a permit. Other cases include an appearance before the Swakopmund Magistrate on charges of illicit hunting, after he was caught with the carcasses of two zebras and an oryx hunted in the Namib-Naukluft National Park over a week in 2023. In the same period, he also faced charges of illicit hunting in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court.
