A SERIES of housebreaking and theft incidents were reported in different parts of the country over the festive period, with criminals targeting homes in Aranos, Katutura and Eenhana. In all cases, suspects gained entry by exploiting unsecured doors or forcing access through windows and fences. No arrests have been made, and police investigations are continuing.
Two separate housebreaking incidents were reported in Katutura, Khomasdal. In the first case, which occurred on Saturday, at around 06:45, suspects allegedly cut an electric fence, climbed over the boundary wall and forced open a door to gain entry. Electrical appliances, blankets and shoes valued at N$99 300 were reportedly stolen. No recoveries or arrests have been made.
In another incident at the same area on Christmas Eve, at about 09:30, a suspect allegedly gained entry through a bathroom window and stole personal items valued at N$59 800. Police investigations are ongoing.
In Aranos, a housebreaking with intent to steal and theft was reported in the early hours on Christmas Eve, at about 03:00 at Veepos location. Police allege that the suspect entered the complainant’s bedroom through an unlocked door and stole clothing and cash valued at N$2 110. No items have been recovered, and no arrests have been made.
In the Oshana Region, a housebreaking was reported at Johnson location in Eenhana, where suspects allegedly broke a window handle and cut burglar bars to access a house between Christmas Day and Saturday. Police said electrical appliances, clothing, food and household items valued at N$63 519.98 were stolen while the occupants were away. No arrests have been made.
Police investigations into all cases continue.
